You can still join Thrive Rx without a Medicare card — we just need to link your Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) to your Thrive Rx account.
Troubleshooting tip: If you're having issues linking your IHI, this is usually because there is a previous address on your HI account. Try updating your home address to a previous address on your Thrive Rx account. To check if it's worked, go back and attempt to book your appointment — this should now be available.
How do I know if I have an IHI?
You likely already have an IHI if:
You've received an e-prescription in Australia
You've had proof of vaccination in Australia
How to link your IHI to your Thrive Rx account
The following details need to match your IHI records exactly:
Home address (note: this may be a previous address)
Date of birth
Gender
Name
Update these details in your Thrive Rx account settings.
Having issues? The easiest way to fix this is to call Health Services on 1300 361 457 (Mon to Fri, 8:30am to 5pm AEST). They can look up or update the details on your account to help you match them. If you have a My Health Record, this is the same address.
Don't have an IHI?
Anyone can apply for an IHI online through Health Services. It takes less than 5 minutes.
How to update your address with My Health Record
Log into your MyGov account.
Click on the My account dropdown in the top right, select your Profile then navigate to Contact details.
Next to Address, click Edit.
Check that My Health Record is selected to share your home address with this service. Click Update to save your changes.
If your home address is empty, input your residential address. Click Update to save.
Once you have shared your home address with My Health Record, this is the residential address associated with your IHI.
Update your Thrive Rx account with your IHI details
Log into your Thrive Rx account.
Go to your account settings.
Navigate to the Medicare details tab.
Update your IHI number as per your MyGov account.
Click Save.
If we are unable to identify your IHI number, we may ask you for additional information to help link your IHI with your Thrive Rx account.
