Your first Thrive Rx consultation is where your clinician gets to know you, reviews your pathology results, and starts building your personalised care plan. Here's what to expect.
Before Your Consultation
Your first consultation is scheduled after your pathology results have been processed and uploaded to the Thrive Rx platform. You'll receive a notification with your appointment details.
For a checklist of how to prepare, see How to Prepare for Your Appointment.
Your Appointment
Consultations are conducted via phone call. You'll receive a call from your practitioner at your scheduled time. Make sure you:
Are in a quiet, private space where you can speak openly about your health
Have your device charged and ready
Please keep in mind that your practitioner may call from a private number, so ensure that your device is set to receive these calls.
What Your Clinician Will Cover
Your first consultation is typically the most in-depth. Your clinician will:
Review your health profile — They'll discuss the information you provided in your health questionnaire, including your medical history, current medications, lifestyle, and health goals.
Walk through your pathology results — Your clinician will explain each relevant biomarker, what the results mean, and how they relate to your goals. They'll highlight areas that are within optimal range and areas that may benefit from attention.
Discuss your health goals — Whether you're focused on energy, sleep quality, metabolic health, hormonal balance, or general optimisation, your clinician will align your care plan to your priorities.
Outline your care plan — Based on your results and goals, your clinician will recommend a plan. This may include lifestyle modifications, nutritional guidance, and — where clinically appropriate — prescribed interventions.
Explain any recommended prescriptions — If medication is recommended, your clinician will explain the clinical rationale, how it works, potential risks and benefits, expected costs, and obtain your informed consent before prescribing.
Set your monitoring schedule — You'll discuss the follow-up cadence: when your check-in questionnaires are due, when your next clinical review will be, and when repeat pathology is expected.
Ask Questions
Your consultation is a two-way conversation. Your clinician wants to hear from you. Don't hesitate to:
Ask what a specific biomarker means and why it matters
Request clarification on anything in your care plan
Ask about alternatives if a recommendation doesn't feel right for you
Raise any concerns about cost, side effects, or treatment duration
There are no wrong questions. The more engaged you are, the better your clinician can tailor your care.
After Your Consultation
Following your first consultation:
Your personalised care plan will be available in the Thrive Rx platform.
If medication has been prescribed, it will be dispensed by a TGA-compliant Australian pharmacy and delivered to your door.
Your monitoring schedule will be set — you'll know exactly when your next check-in and review are due.
A consultation summary will be added to your records in the platform.
How Long Does It Take?
Your first consultation is typically longer than follow-up reviews, as there's more ground to cover. Allow approximately 20 minutes, though this may vary depending on the complexity of your results and questions.
