As a Thrive Rx patient, you have clear rights that are protected by Australian law and medical ethics. We want you to know what they are and how to exercise them.
Your Right to Informed Decisions
You have the right to receive clear, accurate information about any proposed treatment before you decide whether to proceed. This includes understanding what a treatment involves, why it's being recommended, the potential benefits and risks, available alternatives, and the cost.
Your clinician will always seek your informed consent before prescribing any medication. You are never pressured to proceed with a treatment you're not comfortable with.
Your Right to Access Your Records
You have the right to access the health information Thrive Rx holds about you. This includes your pathology results, consultation notes, care plans, and prescription history. You can view most of this information directly through your biomarker dashboard and the Thrive Rx platform.
If you'd like a formal copy of your records, contact our support team and we'll arrange it.
Your Right to Correct Your Information
If any information in your records is inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, you have the right to request a correction. This is important for your safety — accurate records help your clinician make the best decisions for your care.
Your Right to a Second Opinion
You have the right to seek a second opinion from another medical practitioner at any time. If you'd like to discuss your care plan or a treatment recommendation with your GP or another specialist, your Thrive Rx clinician can provide relevant records to support that conversation (with your consent).
Your Right to Withdraw from Treatment
You can discontinue any treatment or withdraw from the Thrive Rx service at any time. If you wish to stop a prescribed medication, please inform your clinician first — some medications require gradual tapering rather than abrupt cessation for safety reasons.
Withdrawing from treatment does not affect your ability to re-engage with Thrive Rx in the future.
Your Right to Privacy
Your health information is protected under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We do not share your information without your consent, except where required by law. For full details, see How We Protect Your Health Data.
Your Right to Make a Complaint
If you're unhappy with any aspect of your care or experience with Thrive Rx, you have the right to raise a complaint. We take all feedback seriously and aim to resolve concerns promptly.
Internal complaints: Contact our support team to raise your concern. We'll acknowledge your complaint and work to resolve it as quickly as possible.
External escalation: If you feel your complaint has not been adequately addressed, you can escalate to:
AHPRA — For concerns about a registered health practitioner's conduct or clinical care. Visit ahpra.gov.au.
Your state or territory Health Complaints Commissioner — For complaints about health service providers. Search for your local commissioner online.
The TGA — For concerns about medications or therapeutic goods. Visit tga.gov.au.
The OAIC — For privacy-related complaints. Visit oaic.gov.au.
Respect and Dignity
You have the right to be treated with respect, dignity, and courtesy at all times — by your clinician, our support team, and everyone involved in your care. If you ever feel this standard hasn't been met, please let us know.
Thrive Rx provides clinician-led health optimisation services. All clinical decisions are made by AHPRA-registered practitioners. Thrive Rx does not provide emergency medical care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 000 immediately.
